James,
    Have tried some of the antennas at HRO on my Yaesu VX-7R and have NOT
been able to hit the repeater (Crystal Peak) I normally use, from inside
HRO.  Have tried the Yaesu provide antenna from the same location (in HRO)
and hit the repeater just fine.

    In spite of the above, would be interested in an improved antenna for my
HT.  Can you or anyone else, for that matter, recommend a HT antenna like
you described?
