-------- Original Message -------- Subject: Urgent need for communicators to support SF Marathon on Sun July 31 Date: Thu, 21 Jul 2005 02:02:12 -0000 From: Woody B-C <wcohn@yahoo.com> Hi all, The ARCBA chapter supports a number of races with medical services. One of those, the SF Marathon, is coming up on Sun July 31 and we are woefully short of communicators and recorders. It's a large event and serves as an excellent communications drill. Typically, there is comm traffic related to logistics, general status, medium priority medical problems requiring consultation with the onsite medical director and code 2 ambulance transport, and a significant number of high priority medical incidents requiring urgent radio traffic with the medical director and code 3 transport. To be a communicator, you need an FCC HAM license. Recorders work with patients and caregivers to document treatment and patient information. Both these positions require current First Aid and CPR. We need comm staff for fixed and mobile first aid teams, logistics support, liaisons with PD and event staff, and to serve as Net Control on three different nets. What ever level of activity you might be interested in, we've probably got it. Again, this is an excellent opportunity to get some real world emergency comm practice. Please pass this notice on. Please contact Grace Pun to sign up (pung@usa.redcross.org / 415-427-8864) or Woody B-C for any comm related questions (KG6LAF@earthlink.net / 415-608-8974). Thanks, Woody Baker-Cohn ----- End forwarded message ----- +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ SARES members mailing list: <sares-list@sunnyvaleares.org> For help with (un)subscription send e-mail to <majordomo@athm.net>Received on Thu Jul 21 16:29:49 2005
