Hello, in light of roster and data now being published as Excel spreadsheets and as discussed over lunch today, Microsoft offers you to download a free viewer software to open Office software attachments for those of you who do not want to buy a license for the Office applications itself. You may download and install those viewers from... http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/results.aspx?freetext=viewer&displaylang=en Note: some of those viewers are large files to download and consume large amounts of diskspace to install; and then also considerable amounts of CPU and memory to run. You might want to pass on this opportunity if you are still running Win98SE on a Pentium-133 computer with 32MB of RAM. The Micro$oft-free alternative is of course to install the OpenOffice package, a full suite of office productivity software that opens almost all of the Microsoft file formats. OpenOffice is open source software and available at no cost at all. You have been warned: OpenOffice is even larger to download (50...100 MB) and will also need a somewhat powerful PC with adequate memory to run on. http://www.openoffice.org/ Enjoy, andreas K6OTT +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ SARES members mailing list: <sares-list@sunnyvaleares.org> For help with (un)subscription send e-mail to <majordomo@athm.net>Received on Wed Oct 19 06:19:48 2005
