Dear SARES communicators, at the last meeting Lt. Farley presented an overview of the National Incident Management System (NIMS). http://www.fema.gov/nims/ It is expected that all first responders will have to go through ICS training in some form although it is not (yet) mandatory at this time. The course is available on the FEMA online training site where you can take the class and take the exam. You may also download the study material PDF files from there. http://training.fema.gov/EMIWeb/IS/is700.asp If you decide to take the class and the test, please let Bob Gundrum KG6MOL know in case you pass the exam and become IS-700 certified. And for those of you who can't get enough of ICS: FEMA hosts on their Independent Study Program web site additional ICS training courses and an ICS Resource Center. http://training.fema.gov/EMIWeb/IS/crslist.asp http://training.fema.gov/EMIWeb/IS/ICSResource/ Enjoy, andreas K6OTT, AEC Sunnyvale +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ SARES members mailing list: <sares-list@sunnyvaleares.org> For help with (un)subscription send e-mail to <majordomo@athm.net>Received on Tue Apr 4 07:05:04 2006
