Hi

A note to remind you of the upcoming Santa Clara County OES ARES/RACES
Mutual Aid Communicator Exercise that will occur at Raynor Park,
Sunnyvale, Saturday, October 21, 0800-1230.
ALL MACs are urged to attend this training event. It will give you all a
chance to meet the other MACs that will be responding when a major
emergency occurs. We will have stations focusing on Go-Pack,
Communications on a net, Communications using HTs, Scenarios, Safety,
and Interaction with Served Agencies, and all of you will have a chance
to attend all of the stations. Bring your Go Packs, and share with us
the neat ideas you have incorporated into your gear. Bring your HTs, and
be sure that you know how to change frequency, offset, PL, etc on demand
(at least, bring your manual!) Bring your one-of-a-kind
ham-radio-equipped vehicle that you would like to show to your peers!
Bring your own lunch (or use the food you have put in your go-kit - you
DID have good food in your go-kit, didn't you?). We will supply coffee,
lemonade, and ice water.

All members of city ARES/RACES groups who are interested in becoming
MACs are also welcome to attend. This is not a test - it is a chance to
learn from your peers about what is important when responding to a call
for help from a city other than your own. Please make sure that everyone
in your city ARES/RACES team knows of this invitation.

Monitor http://www.scc-ares-races.org for details regarding the upcoming
MAC event. I will put updates there as they become available.

NOTE: This exercise replaces the normal October county-wide ARES/RACES
drill.

Any questions? Email <*lwcarr@alum.MIT.edu*> or call me (650-269-9638)

If you plan to attend, please send email to me giving me your name, call
sign, and whether you are a MAC, or interested in becoming a MAC.

Thanks

Larry
