Information from DEC / Chief Radio Officer Larry Carr. I strongly suggest that SARES - MACs who have not completed the on-line FEMA IC-100 & IC-200 courses attend (check our site http://www.sunnyvaleares.org/). When checking the website click on "Training Material" in the left hand column for the links. Any SARES member who would like to become a MAC is suggested to attend this, or take the on-line. I will need confirmation of completion of the ICS classes. Bob INFORMATION ABOUT UPCOMING MAC TRAINING CLASS IN ICS 100/200 in FEBRUARY As many of you know, the Santa Clara County RACES Mutual Aid Communicator program has been established to develop a team of trained amateur radio operators who are willing and able to respond as mutual aid for cities or agencies that are in need of more support than can be supplied by the amateur radio volunteers within the city or agency experiencing the emergency. These hams have been recommended by their city emergency manager and their city ARES/RACES Emergency Coordinator/Radio Officer. These hams receive training focused on developing a uniform knowledge and experience base for all the Mutual Aid Communicators. The first Santa Clara County MAC training for 2007 will occur on Saturday, February 10, 2007, at the ground floor auditorium in the Santa Clara County Sheriff?s Office building at 55 W. Younger Ave, San Jose. This training will be ICS 100 and 200, given by a certified US Coast Guard ICS Trainer. The class will be eight hours, starting at 0900, ending at 1700 hours. This class will offer you a chance to learn ICS with the same people you will be working with when you are called to respond as a Mutual Aid Communicator when an emergency occurs in our county. ECs, please make sure that all those who are MACs in your city, or wish to become MACs, are aware if this event. First priority will be for those MACs who have not yet taken a certified course in ICS 100/200; next priority will be for those ARES/RACES members who would like to become MACs and have not yet taken these courses; and then priority will be given to those who are interested but either have not yet decided to become MACs (classified here as "observers"), or have already taken a certified course in ICS 100/200, but would like to refresh their understanding of ICS (classified here as "MAC - already cert 100/200") will be considered as space allows. The class size is limited, but we will try to include as many as we can. */ /* */ /* */ /* */The last day for sign-up will be 2/5/07./* You can sign up for this course by going to our county web site using the following site information: _ _ > http://www.scc-ares-races.org/MACDrill/macsignup.html Any questions?
