SARES was greeted by Patrol Captain Kelly Fitzgerald, who thanked us for our service to the department and introduced our instructor for the evening Lt. Gary Vierra from Engine 1. Our training was on how SARES could assist DPS in searches for lost / missing / endangered persons (children & adults). The first and most important point stressed is that SARES will NOT be requested if it could be a dangerous incident, we would be mostly used to search for lost / missing children or persons at risk, generally adults with non-violent problems or history. I was very pleased at the turnout for this meeting / training. We should all take pride in our service to the department for the following; #1 that the department had a Captain greet us, and thank us for our service, #2 that the department removed a fire engine from service to allow the company officer to provide our training without interruption, and thirdly (but most important to SARES) was the large turnout (30) for this training. This number for the training impressed the department on our commitment to the city. Like I said at the meeting, after the officers departed, there has never been this many persons at one of our meetings - even when we had food. THANKS again for the great turnout!!!!! 73 bob ~KG6MOL~ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ SARES members mailing list: <sares-list@INTERNET. sunnyvaleares.org> For help with (un)subscription send e-mail to <majordomo@INTERNET. athm.net>Received on Sun Apr 01 2007 - 23:42:55 GMT
