SPECS is asking participating groups to provide additional Control Operators (see below). If you are interested in this assignment please respond ASAP, Peter would like the list of names by this weekend. bg ~KG6MOL The SPECS Repeater Association is looking for people who are willing to take on the responsibility of being a control operator for the W6ASH repeater system. This means monitoring the repeater when possible to assist users, assure proper operation, and take control of the repeater in case of unusual events, emergencies, or indications of improper operation. This is not just a power-trip control-codes-fest, but an acceptance of a duty. As an EC, you are asked to nominate a small number of hams from your city (2 or 3) for the training. These should be people who are skilled enough to understand the repeater system architecture and its implementation and implications, and are responsible enough to do the right thing and not play silly games. Nominees must be members in good standing of SPECS and have dual band capability; that is they must have 2meters and also 220 or 440. You are asked to forward the names of the people suitable for training to me for consideration. I will then contact them and tell them when and where the training will take place. As EC, you will also be invited to attend the training. Thank you for your help. 73, Peter Griffith, trustee for the W6ASH repeater +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ SARES members mailing list: <sares-list@INTERNET. sunnyvaleares.org> For help with (un)subscription send e-mail to <majordomo@INTERNET. athm.net>Received on Thu Apr 19 2007 - 02:59:35 GMT
