In case you are interested!!!!! - NOT an ARES / RACES function - just a "HAM" function!!!!!!!! -------- Original Message -------- Subject: [Scc-ec] Bay To Breakers Race Date: Tue, 15 May 2007 14:51:35 EDT From: QAwhiz@INTERNET. aol.com To: scc-ec@INTERNET. svpal.org The San Francisco Red Cross is looking for ham volunteers to staff the Bay to Breakers race this year. It happens on Sunday, May 20th and it should be fun if you don't mind the drive up there. You will have to report at about 4:30 in the morning, so they give out breakfast and _two_ lunches to get you through the day. It's a little odd in that you don't need to bring your own radio - they will provide their own commercial sets, so you will be simply communicators. It seems a little flattering that they chose the hams to do their communications for them under those circumstances. You will be regarded as 'temporary' volunteers, so the whole background check issue isn't a concern. It should be a fun event to 'radio' for.
