This request is not limited to Mutual Aid Communicators, or those who wish to become MACs - it is open to all who wish to assist. Details of the event and task are listed below, as well as contact information regarding the event. ECs, will you please canvas your members to see if any are willing to help. MACs, and MACS-in-training, please consider responding to this request. Larry Carr District Emergency Coordinator, Santa Clara County ARES Chief Radio Officer, Santa Clara County OES =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- REQUEST FOR HAM MUTUAL AID FOR A JULY 4 FIREWORKS EVENT The city of Cupertino has asked Santa Clara county ARES/RACES for 12-15 ham radio mutual aid communicators (MACs) to assist Cupertino RACES during the upcoming July 4 fireworks event in Cupertino. This is a formal request for RACES mutual aid; however, it is a request based on a scheduled event. Since this is not an emergency request, this will be treated as a RACES training event. Therefore, I am asking those of you who are training to become MACs to consider signing up for this event. Remember, you will get a good view of the fireworks, and will also get dinner! And, you will gain valuable experience in your effort to become MACs. For those of you who are already MACs, consider the food and fireworks - you might also like to participate. If you are interested, please advise your own city EC of your interest, and obtain his/her approval before contacting Cupertino ECs, please let me know the call signs of hams that are responding to this request). Note that you do not need to be registered as a Disaster Service Worker with Santa Clara County in order to participate in this event - you will be registered by Cupertino as DSWs for the duration of the event. For more information about the July 4 event, go to http://www.cupertinoares.org/. When you decide to sign up, contact Alan Gontang, at kd6qpp@INTERNET. arrl.net. If you have any questions, please contact me by email, or call me at 650-269-9638.
