Hello SARES members, Here is my contribution to making net control easier for the Mon/Tue evening SARES nets. I finally took the time to figure out a method of using checkboxes to 'count' the net participants. I present for your use, two versions of the SARES suffix roster. Now you can run the net with a mic in one hand and a mouse in the other. Simply check off stations as they check in and the attendance count magically adjusts :-) No pencils/pens need. When the net is over, simply close the spreadsheet WITHOUT saving changes and the next time it is opened, the count will be 0 and all boxes unchecked For those with good memory, use the single checkbox version. For the rest of us :-) , use the version with 2 checkboxes. Use one checkbox for what your ears heard, and the other checkbox when acknowledging stations. Only the checkbox in the 'Prefix/C' column actually 'counts'. The 2nd checkbox is just for secondary use such as acknowledgments or whatever. Bob, you may want to keep a reference copy of the list without the checkboxes so rows can be added or deleted as necessary. Then copy cells (not entire rows) of names/calls from the reference spreadsheet, position the cursor on cell C4 of the checkbox version and paste. How does it work? You may notice that columns A and B are 'hidden'. Cells in column B have a default value of FALSE unless the corresponding checkbox in the Prefix/C column is checked. In that case it switches to TRUE. Cells in column A have a default value of 0 unless the corresponding cell in column B is TRUE. Then it switches to 1. The cells in column A have a formula like this: =IF(B4=TRUE,1,0). That means, if cell B4 is TRUE, then set A4 to 1, otherwise A4 is 0. The official 'Count for the main net' in cell G2 is simply a sum of column A. No macros are used to minimize the possibility of virus transmission. The only tedious part of creating this counting spreadsheet was right clicking on each of the 147 checkboxes in column C and manually setting the 'Format Control' to link the apropriate TRUE/FALSE cell to change when clicking the box. I am obviously NOT an Excel guru - but it works. I included a few extra rows of checkboxes because as an optimist, I expect the group to grow :-) This spreadsheet is based on the version Bob sent out on 6/19. Send name/call changes to Bob and enhancement requests to me :-). Warning: Copying and pasting entire rows within this spreadsheet will likely mess up the count unless the 'format control' is set appropriately for the checkboxes in column C. Right click any checkbox in colunm C to see this. Copying from a reference spreadsheet without checkboxes and pasting into this one tested OK. Adjusting the height of individual rows can cause the checkboxes to become misaligned. -- Dave Valiton - WB4FZU +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ SARES members mailing list: <sares-list@INTERNET. sunnyvaleares.org> For help with (un)subscription send e-mail to <majordomo@INTERNET. athm.net>
