Below is the FIRST of FOUR messages, sent by Larry Carr, about the county wide drill this coming Saturday, 10/13 between 2 & 4 p. m. As a group SARES will not be participating, BUT you as an individual may participate. This first message provides the frequencies for the Message & Command Nets. If you participate you should be using the MESSAGE net, the Command net is used by county / city ARES-RACES command staff to deal with any admin problems during the drill. The second message will provide information for how packet should be used during the drill, and includes the 2 meter & 220 packet frequencies. The third message gives some suggested messages, to give you ideas - you can be creative with messages. The fourth message has a copy of the new Santa Clara County ARES-RACES message form, which has been adopted as the standard form to be used by ARES-RACES in transmissions of any verbal messages in the county. If you participate in this drill, HAVE FUN, gain experience, be creative AND let me know you participated. Thx Bob ~W6MOL~ -------- Original Message -------- Hi A reminder that the October 2007 Santa Clara County-wide ARES/RACES drill will occur on Saturday, October 13, from 1400-1600. The scenario for this drill will be a major earthquake, one that has disabled both telephone AND internet connections in our county. We will focus on two primary tasks during this drill - message handling using a new message form developed by members of our Santa Clara County ARES/RACES group, and a new protocol for handling packet messages. I will be sending you a copy of the new Message Form, which has been adopted by the Santa Clara County Office of Emergency Services as their new standard for EOC message traffic. Please use this during the drill, so that all of you can become familiar with the procedures that we will be using at the county EOC. I will also send a file describing the packet protocol that I want to use during the drill next Saturday. Please review this file, and be ready to follow the procedures next Saturday. I will also send you a file giving you sample message text to use during the drill. Please consider using these examples, and sending me additional suggestions for messages. We will be operating the following nets: Message Net: 147.36(+) PL 110.9 W6TI/R Command Net: 442.5(+) PL 100.0 WB6ZVW/R Packet Net: 144.910, 223.660 simplex EOC net: Government Radio Repeater and simplex Larry +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ SARES members mailing list: <sares-list@INTERNET. sunnyvaleares.org> For help with (un)subscription send e-mail to <majordomo@INTERNET. athm.net>Received on Sun Oct 07 2007 - 19:18:41 GMT
