All, Here is an offer from the Mtn. View ARES / RACES group to get you system tuned up, checked, etc. EC Jerry Haag is inviting anyone that would like to have their equipment checked to "come on down!!!!" bg -------- Original Message -------- As previously published in the 2008 Training Schedule, our next ARES activity is the annual antenna and transceiver tune-up party, the Saturday after next, February 23. It will be held from 1000 to 1130, at Mountain View Fire Administration Building, 1000 Villa Street, in the auditorium on the upper level. Hams from our nearby cities are also welcome. This is a great opportunity for you to test your antennas to determine resonance and VSWR, and your rigs to determine transmission frequency and tone accuracy along with deviation. Dave Platt, AE6EO, will be there with his whole suite of neat test equipment. Bring yours as well if you have any that you want to make available to others. We will also have Anderson PowerPole connectors and crimpers for you to use to make your power cables compatible with the city standard. By the way, in my message to you yesterday about the city-wide CERT drill in March, I forgot to mention that it replaces the ARES training originally scheduled for March 22. The revised training plan for the year is posted on our web site at _www.K6MTV.org_ <file://www.K6MTV.org>. When you go there, you can also download the newly revised Mtn. View ARES Emergency Plan that has our new message form and instructions. Hope to see you all on the 23rd. 73. Jerry Haag, K6GAC Coordinator Mtn.
