[SARES] [Fwd: Special Exercise on SPECS Net Monday Night]

If you monitor the SPECS (145.270) net on Monday evenings, here is
some information about a change in procedure for tomorrows (2/25/2008)
net. I realize that individual members do not participate that much in
each SPECS main net, but would be interested on how you are able to
receive the other stations. It would be nice if SARES had an idea of
what the simplex coverage is in Sunnyvale for SPECS, if the repeater
should fail.

Therefore, I am requesting ~IF~ you monitor SPECS tomorrow evening
to send me an e-mail letting me know how you were able to receive. I
need to know where you are (exact address, not "at home") and a
guestimate on the number of stations (cities) you hear, and how well
(scale of 1 <poor>- 10 <good>) you hear them.

Thanks in advance for your assistance in this survey ~73~

We will be conducting a special exercise this coming Monday night,
simulating loss of the SPECS 2-m repeater. The net will be conducted
simplex on the output frequency of the repeater. Net control will be
operating on our most sensitive transceiver at MTV EOC ham shack, 25
watts on a 50 ft tall antenna. We hope we will be able to reach almost
everyone. Once you get to your local net, you might want to poll your
people about how well they heard the main net control operator. I'd be
interested in the results.

This will mainly affect DEC, Board members, ECs and AECs and those with
announcements. Please inform your AECs.

The repeater will actually be disabled after the introductory paragraph
of the script. It will remain disabled until after the net closed. When
your local net control operators report your check-ins, they will do so
on simplex, so they will need a reasonable good radio system. If they
fail to raise us on simplex, reports can be made on the UHF repeater.

Dru/Scott/Maynard, if you have a flea market announcement, please make
it brief because net control will need to repeat it for all to hear.

Regards.
