On Monday (March 24) evening we will have a secondary net using out primary SIMPLEX frequency ~147.405~. This will occur after the roll call report has been made to the main SPECS net and the count reporter has returned to the SARES repeater frequency. Simplex Net Procedure Phil, K6PHL, will be the net controller for both the repeater net & the simplex net. During the SPECS net there is a break-out for the local roll call which will be completed on the K6GL repeater. This will include our normal announcements. After the member that takes the count to the main (SPECS) net returns, when instructed, we will all switch to the Simplex frequency of 147.405 (R/T with no PL tone). If you radio is newer and automatically applies an offset, set your offset to "0". Please set your radio for maximum power output for the initial simplex contact, then you can bump your power down one level at a time to determine your radio's coverage ability. It is probable that there will not be total coverage so Howard N6HM and Bob W6MOL will listen from their separate vantage points for stations Phil is unable to hear/acknowledge. These will be reported and accounted at the end of each call sign suffix segment. We can now get a comparison of how the same stations can reach a set antenna location on both the repeater & simplex. The plan is to eventually evaluate a simplex check-in using the EOC radio, but experience dictates that we only evaluate only one step at a time. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ SARES members mailing list: <sares-list@INTERNET. sunnyvaleares.org> For help with (un)subscription send e-mail to <majordomo@INTERNET. athm.net>Received on Sun Mar 09 2008 - 00:15:35 GMT
