For the March 24 test, I was using 45 watts into an American Legion J-Pole on my 2-story roof, fed through about 50 feet (meaning lossy) of Radio Shack RG-58 coax. I also used a 5-watt handheld into an identical antenna (same location, same amount of coax) in an A/B test with MOL. (yes, I have 2 J-poles on my roof) Normally, I check in using a 1/2 wave Hotrod antenna on my handheld from the ground floor of my residence. There is a big signal difference. The handheld /Hotrod combination was the rig that I used in yesterday's "what constitutes a checkin" discussion. Location is essentially at the SE corner of Sunnyvale near Homestead/Tantau. Exact location is 1614 Peacock Avenue. -- corner of Peacock and Kennard. - Skip AA6WK ----- Original Message ----- From: P. Attached is a spreadsheet summary of the results. Note that we learned from this 1st. exercise that we need to clarify a couple of items: In future simplex trials we would ask that you check in with two items of information: your transmit power level (this may need to be approximate) and whether you are using a tall (roof top mount, mag-mount, etc.) antenna, or a simple HT antenna. If you feel your spread sheet information needs to be modified, please contact me by email.
