de Neal WA6OCP: REMINDER: This week is National Public Safety Telecommunications Week. The week of April 13 through April 19, 2008 has been declared National Public Safety Telecommunications week (NTW) sponsored by the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials, International (APCO). NTW is a week set aside and dedicated to recognize and salute public safety telecommunicators who aid in providing emergency 9-1-1 assistance to citizens everywhere. Although these individuals often go the extra mile, their efforts are appreciated but rarely recognized. In fact, recognition is not something they seek. Designating a specific week to honor public safety telecommunicators was first conceived in 1981 by a member of APCO International's Northern California Chapter. APCO International introduced the week to Congress in October 1991. National Public Safety Telecommunications Week is now celebrated annually the second full week of April.
