SARES Members,
Please consider participation in either or both events. Santa Clara
County ARES/RACES mandates that the EC be advised by you of your desire
to participate. There are set protocols to follow, that provide your
Santa Clara County DSW insurance coverage, therefore if you are
participating let me know. I will give you the protocol to be followed,
for both events.
If you want to sign up and are not a MAC, use the MAC In Training
catagory.

To All MACs, those who want to become MACs, and other interested hams

We have two events in July that still require MAC mutual aid support.
First, we need five more responders for the Cupertino July 4 fireworks
event. If interested, please sign in at the link on our county
ARES/RACES web site - http://www.scc-ares-races.org, where you will
find a link to the July 4 event.

The second event in July that needs ham support is the Lance Armstrong
Livestrong cycling event on July 13. Santa Clara County ARES/RACES has
been asked by the city of San Jose to supply MAC mutual aid assistance
for this event. This is an all-day event, starting at 0630, ending at
1700. Since this event is so long, we have broken it into two shifts,
allowing responders to choose morning, afternoon, or full day response.

This event needs 20 hams to fill full day positions (thus as many as 40
shifts). This is a major event, and it is important that this event
receive the support that has been requested. Therefore, I am making this
a MAC training event - if you sign up for this event, even for a single
shift, you will experience the full Resource Net procedure training that
is so important to our future responses during emergencies. You can sign
up for this event by going to our web site and following the link for
the Livestrong Bicycle event.

Since we also have an Advanced Emergency CommunicationsTraining class on
Saturday, (July 12 - Shadowing), this is a very fulll month for ham
radio. Therefore, I have decided to postpone the July quarterly county
wide ARES/RACES drill to a later date.

Please find time to sign up for these events and training - the way the
fires are developing this summer, we may need you to respond to a real
emergency, and the training you will receive during these training
events will be of major importance.

Larry
