Within the past hour SARES was contacted to provide communications assistance for the Art & Wine Festival, THIS weekend. The festival hours of operation are from 1000 to 1800 hours on Saturday and Sunday. The responsibility for SARES will be to staff the DUI trailer, at Washington & Sunnyvale Aves., and monitor the festival security radio frequency. If there is a request for DPS officers someplace in the festival area, SARES would relay the request to the DPS IC. This would probably done on a face-to-face basis, as opposed to using another radio to contact DPS, but this has not been completely ironed out at this time. The hours I am requesting volunteers are from 0900 thru 1830 both days. We would like to staff the trailer with 2 SARES members at all times. We would like to have a shift from 0900 thru 1400 and another from 1330 thru 1830. We have requested consideration for being fed, but failing that, we should be able to find something to eat at the festival. Please advise ASAP if you can volunteer for this event. Also give your preferences (1 & 2) for shifts and dependent on the number of volunteers, we will give every consideration to accommodate your request.
