Tuesday night, on 20m 14.340MHz ----- Forwarded message from J Oberhofer KN6PE ----- Hello County HF'ers, Here's the plan for this week's HF net. Please pass this on to your teams and those interested in HF. regards, Jim o KN6PE -----Original Message----- Sent: Monday, September 07, 2009 6:19 PM Subject: HF Net tomorrow evening September 8th, 2009 -- New Band/frequency 20m / 14.340 Hey all, We will have an HF net tomorrow evening, September 8th, at 8:30pm (20:30 hours) following the SVEC County net. Thank you to those who checked in last week. PLEASE NOTE: THE FREQUENCY -- 20m, 14,340Mhz!!!!!! The net will be on 20m UPPER side band, the frequency is 14.340MHz and if that frequency is in use, then drop down in 2KHz increments until you hear the net or you hit 14.320MHz. There have been times when we had to move up the band, so if you cannot find us, please do tune around the band if there is a lot of activity. Don't forget to tune up your antennas. For tomorrow night's discussion, lets continue the discussion on the role HF will play in emergency and the survey. Phil can continue that. Or, we can have an open discussion on what people want to discuss. Bring any QSTs you might have. We will also do a signal strength check per each station who checks in to see how the band propagation is affecting us. As always, please feel free to send feedback and ideas for topics. The current list of topics to discuss for HF that folks have brought up are: - How to reduce power line noise - HF antenna, types of HF antennas, configurations, examples, antenna raising parties, etc. - HF IF/DSP filtering - What is required to deploy in the field - Communications with stations outside our local area - Why HF instead of EchoLink or IRLP? Please feel free to reply with additional suggestions so I can compile a complete list. These and other topics could also be discussed at one of our CARES meetings. Please note that I did try to create a yahoo group but due to some ADA issues with Yahoo, I was not able to do so. I has to do with how Yahoo uses "Captias" for user verification and these are not ADA section 508 compliant. I am working with Yahoo on addressing this. For now, I have provided everyone's address on this email based on call singes and assuming that these email addresses are good with arrl.net. QST from Michael - N6MEF Here's some local fun for the HF crowd - the California QSO Party - the largest state QSO party. Even "little pistol" stations get a chance to "run" frequencies because everyone outside CA needs to contact CA stations. Coming up Oct 3-4. http://www.cqp. <http://www.cqp.org/> org/ It might be worth mentioning on the Tuesday night net. End QST Have a great day, Darryl -- KI6LDM ----- End forwarded message ----- +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ SARES members mailing list: <sares-list@INTERNET. sunnyvaleares.org> For help with (un)subscription send e-mail to <majordomo@INTERNET. athm.net>Received on Tue Sep 08 2009 - 04:39:51 UTC
