It is now time to sign-up for the next county drill if you would like to participate. As is indicated below, all attendees MUST have Santa Clara County DSW coverage. If you do not have a SCCo DSW card, you can contact Andreas Ott (K6OTT) to obtain the coverage ~PRIOR~ to this event. bg From: Michael Fox - N6MEF [mailto:n6mef@INTERNET. mefox.org] Sent: Sunday, August 07, 2011 10:19 PM To: n6mef@INTERNET. mefox.org Subject: Sign-ups are Open for the 9/24 County-wide Comm Exercise Sign-ups are now open for the Sept 24th County-wide Communications Exercise. Anyone with a current Santa Clara County ARES/RACES DSW registration is welcome to attend. This is a county-wide exercise. It's a chance to get out into the field and practice many of the activities you've learned about in recent classes. You'll receive an activation over the air, travel to a designated location, and receive an assignment (or two) that should be both challenging and fun. The various exercises and assignments are currently being designed and we have some interesting activities in mind. But some will be a surprise - so no details right now. MACs and MITs will also be able to receive evaluations for MAC qualifications. The event will last most of the day - from 8am to 4pm - to give folks time to complete two different activities or to allow some scheduling flexibility for folks who only want to complete one activity. We also plan to introduce a little healthy competition into the mix. So everyone is encouraged to come out and help boost their city's score. We're currently planning the details. But we need input from you because a lot will depend on how many people will be attending as participants AND on how many people will help out as staff. So if you plan to attend, please go to the county ARES/RACES website and sign up as soon as possible. This will give our team an idea of what to expect and how many activities they can support. Of course, please don't sign up unless you plan to attend and please remove yourself if you later discover that you have to back out. As we get closer to the event, we'll send out more information to the folks that have signed up. But that's it for now.
